Introduction

E.W.Cox Building maintenance equipment (BME) comes standard with a wide range of powered features to help the operators accurately and efficiently gain access to the façade. For drum winch units, each function is available either from the cradle or from the control panel on the roof trolley. A key operated selector switch on the roof trolley determines whether function is controlled from the cradle or from the roof.

Below is a list of common features. Click on the links to see a short animation, which demonstrates how the BMU will move with each function. The smaller animation is designed for use if your internet connection is slow (eg : 56 kB modem). If possible, choose the larger file to receive larger and clearer images.

Travelling
The entire machine moves along the track system
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.5 mb)

Machine Slewing
The jib arm rotates around the mid point of the four wheels
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.6 mb)

Crossbar Slewing (cradle slewing)
The spreader bar at the end of the jib rotates, at the same time causing the cradle to rotate
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.5 mb)

Jib Luffing
The tip of the jib arm is raised or lowered. This feature is used to reach up and over building obstacles, or to bring the cradle closer to the façade
Mpeg (0.2 mb) or Mpeg (0.7 mb)

Hoisting
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.5 mb)

2 Stage Jib Telescoping
The jib arm changes length to reach remote areas of the building, or to reach areas of the façade that are close to the roof trolley
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.6 mb)

3 Stage Jib Telescoping
Uses the same principle as 2 stage jib telescoping, except that a greater difference can be achieved between the maximum reach and the minimum reach
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.6 mb)

Knuckle Jib
A rotation point is provided in the middle of the jib to enable it to ‘Fold’ around corners
Mpeg (0.1 mb) or Mpeg (0.6 mb)

Safety Devices
Each E.W. Cox Building maintenance using comes with a host of standard safety features, which monitor the operation of the machine, and ensure the safety of the operators. Please click on the link below to see a visual summary of what you can expect. Safety Features
